6 Ways To Take Care of Your Physical Fitness During the Quarantine

During quarantine, you are probably spending far less time outside than you used to. However, you should never stop moving your body or staying active. Even if you are not going out that much these days, you don’t need to make this an excuse as to why you aren’t staying physically fit. There is plenty you can do at home and work out during quarantine. Physical fitness during quarantine is a must!

There are plenty of ways to enjoy quarantine workouts. If you are usually someone who stays active, it can be frustrating to be unable to go to your favorite gym (we hope it’s Delta Fitness!). Thankfully, you can keep motivated and continue pushing yourself by practicing exercises for quarantine.

Here is what we recommend doing to work out during quarantine:

  1. Use a Home Workout App

These days, there are tons of home workout apps that can help you stick to a workout routine while you are unable to get to the gym. Whether you are using Android or iOS, you will have your pick of both free and paid apps. Sticking to a routine for your home workout will help you develop a new habit that you will naturally incorporate into your day.

Regardless of whether you only have five minutes of time or a couple of hours for a home workout, you will find an app out there that is right for you. Out of the thousands available today, there is something for everyone, even seniors and children!

  1. Follow Along With YouTube Workout Videos

Alternatively, you can just watch YouTube videos for home workouts that you can follow along with. There are a whole bunch of YouTubers sharing their own quarantine workouts so that you can still get some exercises for quarantine into your day. You can take your pick of yoga, weightlifting, bodyweight fitness, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT) workouts. A lot of people have been choosing this method of staying in shape and being active during quarantine due to being able to easily follow along with the trainer on the screen.

  1. Maintain a Sleep Schedule

Going to bed and getting up around the same time every day will help you maintain a stable weight. Sleeping too much, as well as not sleeping enough, will both lead to you gaining unwanted weight. That is why sticking to a sleep schedule is an excellent addition to your routine of quarantine workouts. It is really easy to sleep in for too long when you are stuck in the house and don’t have much to look forward to during the day. However, it’s going to cost you more than you may think. We promise you will feel better once you are sticking to a sleep schedule.

To help you stick to a good sleep schedule, you will want to help your body wind down in the evening. This means avoiding drinking any caffeinated beverages after 4 PM. It also means you should stop eating up to three hours before bed. Also, you should turn off all electronic devices you use, like your smartphone, computer, and TV, at least an hour before going to bed.

  1. Eat Healthy

It can be challenging to get all of the fresh produce you need to stay healthy while stuck in quarantine and lockdown. However, you should still do your best to shop healthy when you do manage to get out of the house. Since grocery stores are considered to be “essential” businesses, they’re still open like they always were. That means you don’t have much of an excuse to go and load up on fruits and veggies. Eating healthy will also help you avoid getting stuffed on empty calories. 

Tying into this, you could also stick to eating your main meals around the same times every day. That will help you avoid snacking in between meals, which is the bulk of the empty calories you would be eating anyway. Sticking to eating three or four meals a day will help keep you on track to eating healthy.

  1. Clean Your Home

You can consider one of your exercises for quarantine to be cleaning your home. Sure, it may not be as enjoyable as a home workout, but it is going to keep you physically active. In fact, you can burn quite a few calories doing everything that goes into cleaning your home. 

Consider doing your spring cleaning early. Get to vacuuming, mopping, dusting, and anything else that needed to be done. Make the beds, declutter your closets and storage ages. Tidy up and get to scrubbing those kitchen stovetops and counters. There are a number of ways you can stay active cleaning your home because there is always something to clean!

  1. Walk While Talking

Even if you can’t see your friends, family, and loved ones as often as you would like, you can still talk with them over the phone or a video messaging app. Especially if you live alone, give someone a ring and stay mobile throughout the conversation. 

Pace around your home while you’re chatting it up with someone. Walking and talking can even be fun. You are going to get to talk while getting in a light workout, which is brilliant. If you have stairs somewhere, then walk up and down them while you’re talking. Do you have a yard? Talk a walk around it! Find any way you can to burn calories while staying mobile.

Stay Active!

Taking care of your physical fitness during quarantine is important for your overall health and well-being. When you work out during quarantine doing any of the things mentioned above, you are making sure you don’t lose all of the progress you may before lockdown for your health and physical fitness. Once quarantine and lockdown are over, you will want to jump right back into the gym routine you had without having to play catch-up due to slacking over the past few months.
